How To Choose The Right Company To Fit Your Garage Doors

If you want to replace your existing garage doors or plan to invest in a set for the first time then you might feel a little confused about which ones to go for and which company to choose to fit them. To help you make the right choice, check out the handy guide below...

Do your research

There are hundreds of companies throughout the UK from national chains to local independent garage door companies who can provide you with a great service. You could ask someone you know whether they have had their doors replaced recently, if they have and they were happy with the job then ask for the company's contact details. In the absence of a word of mouth referral you can search for companies online or you could
visit some local suppliers. When you are carrying out your research you should check the companies' safety policies and procedures as you need to ensure that your doors conform to EU standards - all quality suppliers and fitters should be able to show evidence of this.

Ask to see samples of previous work

Ask to see examples of work the companies have carried out before. If you are visiting local companies then this will be easy. The company will probably have a showroom, a shop or even a portfolio where they can show you recent examples of their work. If you are contacting companies online then you might want to ask them for the contact details of some referrals so that you can contact a small selection of previous customers and see what they thought to the company's workmanship and whether they were happy with the job.

Ask whether the company can work to your budget

It's likely that you'll have a specific budget to spend on the project. When you've narrowed your search down to three or four companies, let them know the size of your budget so you can see what you can get for your money. If you have a smaller budget then you might be restricted in some areas such as the type of material that you can have for the doors or on the opening and closing mechanism of the garage door for example. Once you agree on a budget and have defined what your requirements are, ask if you can have written quotations from all of the companies so that you have the full costs of material and labour in writing, this should help you avoid any nasty surprises at the end of the job. It is always wise to put aside a further 10% of your total budget into a contingency fund just in case the company have to carry out any additional work that they had not foreseen. Although these extra costs are unlikely if the company has visited your property and assessed the garage and surrounding area before quoting for the work, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Just bear in mind the tips above and you should get the perfect doors for your property and budget.
